Pre-Election Musings: Old News is the Same News

NOTE: As I languish in Facebook Jail, I decided to go back through some of my unpublished and semi-published rants and raves from various online delivery systems. Most of these are responses to somebody's posts, blogs or comments.
You may not agree with my point of view and that's okay. I may not agree with my points of view, either.
If'n you don't...feel free to comment.

We're in a Depression, economically. Food lines. 40 million workers idle.

We're in the middle of a pandemic that's killing hundreds of Americans, daily. It would have been less deadly had there been a modicum of leadership.
We have unrest in the streets and the "man", (I use that term loosely), Trump, has threatened to unleash the military on peaceful protestors, (and did for his photo-op), all based on his idea of "Law and Order". He's undermined the very values that members of Congress, law enforcement and the military, took an oath to protect.

I have been here before.

Nothing's changed in 50 years.

It's very strange to me that Republican candidates that ran against Trump and spoke out about his deficiencies: lack of moral and mental capacities, are now his sycophants.
It's very sad that Republicans cannot find a leader that is bereft of the lying and what some called “the shady shit” he does. Sadly, the issues they say he is "for" (competitive public, consumer based companies and keeping as much manufacturing as possible in the US), he had not achieved. In most cases he has exacerbated the situations. All of those points  are moot, anyway.

Again...we are in a Depression. Oh, they call it a ‘recession” now. Like they did in 2008. They lied then, too.
Those jobs he "created"? Most won't return. The FDR policies he could attempt to replicate? Like the CCC? They are beyond his ability to comprehend, much less have the political acumen or leadership to get enacted. We have sweatshops in the U.S.. But, they aren't working now. We still import most of the products sold in stores from China. Walmart couldn't survive without them. Ivanka Trump's own clothing line: Made in China. Trump's clothing line: Made in China.

We love our cheap stuff. We love money more than our country, seemingly. Happy idiots, struggling for the legal tender. Jackson Browne was prescient.
Yet...down here on the bottom, people are hungry. Without healthcare. Offered a payroll tax cut as a benefit...but 40 million workers aren't on a payroll! Essential workers forced to go to jobs without sufficient protections. "Work until you die, because if you quit, you get no unemployment benefits. You will lose your health insurance ". But, no matter. There will be some poor, hungry son of a bitch that will fill that job opening that that new corpse once occupied.
If you love Trump, you have to own that. You have to own the things you've already embraced:  the racism; the hatred of those that don't support him; the misogyny; the anger; the lack of a moral compass; the use of his position to enrich himself and his family; the misinformation; the disinformation; the coddling of international dictators; the embrace of our enemies, (when he thinks he can monetarily gain); the lack of empathy for anybody but himself; his portrayal of himself as THE victim; his having sex with other women after his wife had just given birth; his putting himself forward as a Christian when he's never read, much less studied the bible; his failure as a businessman, (multiple bankruptcies…"I built this business from nothing") and the thousands, THOUSANDS of lies. Lying when it doesn't even benefit him. Lying about not saying things that there is video of him saying. Telling his supporters, literally, "Don't believe what you see...".
And again, unleashing the power of the largest military death machine on Earth on citizens that were exercising their First Amendment rights.
All of this RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES.
And there's MORE. So much that I can't bring it to mind.
My view: Trump is a stereotypical New York City asshole, con man/huckster/snake oil salesman and a demagogue. THAT, and only that, is what he is good at. His followers fell for his con. 33% of the electorate were his “marks” and he beat the game.
How evangelical voters can support a godless serial philanderer, divorcee and foul-mouthed man that displays nothing but moral turpitude, boggles my mind. How any American can use this man as a symbol of what their children should emulate, what they might aspire to, shows we as a country got the "leader" we deserve.
I expect he will call off the election. Steal my right to vote, along with my First Amendment rights and shortly after, my Second Amendment rights, all under the auspices of some trumped up "national emergency".
So, although I have never felt the need to arm myself in my 66 years, that could change. He's fomenting a civil war. He's a Confederate in control of the Union. The legacy of his followers will be that they destroyed Reagan's "Shining city on a hill" in less that 4 years.
I don't know where those that have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic, are. I see no courage in the elected GOP leaders that should be standing up to him and saying, "Excuse me, sir....this isn't RIGHT". I hope, if there is a national election come November, they will pay the price of their fear of being called names by the Executive Bully.
Maybe that's his attraction. Americans have always valued bullies. From elementary to high school. Bullies rule. As a people, modern Americans are bullies. It's. a sad aspect of American culture. I have been threatened with death multiple times by Trump supporters that take offense to my political commentary regarding that fearful little man in the White House.
So far, nobody has followed through. Most bullies don't, if you stand up to them.
But, I reckon...there's still a little time.
Mind you....I am not a Democrat. I left when Obama made Bush's tax cuts for the rich, permanent. When Obama gave the medical insurance companies a trillion dollar gift with the ACA.
Plus, they are spineless. It's not that they can't fight, they just won't because their afraid of being branded as being politically incorrect. Maybe that will change. Maybe there will be a war. A civil war.

I know what side I will fight for. It was the one that aspired to be a more perfect union.
I should probably find a private party to sell me an AR-15. I'll use that Socialist Welfare Stimulus check Trump provided.
